​My reference photo was taken from a highway bridge near Malakwa B.C. of the salmon spawning below. The fish were resting in the water cooled by the bridge's shadow. They would rest facing the current and then shoot ahead a few feet or when another salmon got in it's way. The water's current gave them an abstract look and feel.
